Clarification

I just wanted to clarify a comment I made in yesterday's blog. "Paul doens't live here anymore" is my passive-aggressive way of dealing with this particularly long TDY. Paul left right after Labor Day and because of delays in some of the testing won't be back until Thanksgiving.

I thought this assignment would keep him home for awhile... you know... that 9 to 5 kind of existence that civilian families experience. Well... it isn't. He's been gone far more than he's been home.. or at least it feels like that to me. He doesn't like being gone so much either, but he does love the job..... and he's really good at it.

I just didn't want anyone to think there was anything wrong over here. Nothing that retirement won't cure anyway. Or even, a change in assignment.. but we've made promises to the two littles that they can graduate from this high school... so I guess there will be no change before 2011.

sigh.

I knew a military couple who split up after 14 yrs of marriage. She commented that out of those 14 yrs they had probably lived together 4 years TOTAL if you combined all the days they spent together. WOW, I applaud you and your strength.

No need to clarify. I took that comment that he was gone more than he was home so it seemed like he didn't lived there.

I don't think your the first lady to say their hubby doesn't live here....and just mean they are off to work constantly. I'd even guess most of us ladies have said such a thing about our other halfs....

It's all good,
Rebecca

I knew what you meant, Estela. I hope things will ease up soon, but as always, it is an uncertain life. (My ex was in the AF, and his first assignment was Grand Forks, North Dakota. I cried. LOL But it turned out okay.)

Hugs, Beth

Hi! I can only imagine how hard it is to be sepereated so much. Although your husband is doing a wonderful work, he is still your husband. I know that you want him with you more. I admire you strength!!

That could be said of my own Paul and he isn't in the military. He works during the day as a Teachers Aid to handicapped kids. During the evenings he's teaching guitar lessons. Most weekends (oh heck, every weekend) He is absent and gone playing gigs with his band.

My daughter just got married this past May to a guy that is in the Army. He was suppose to go to Iraq in Sept. but is held over in Mississippi until after Christmas, then he deploys. Meanwhile my daughter is discovering married life alone.

He plans on signing up for another 6 after he's over in Iraq. Skye thinks he will be making a career out of the military. I told her, it's hard and you will spend most of your married life without him. So far it's the first year...and she's young. However I do believe love is the glue that binds. (Hugs)Indigo

I was so lucky that in 17 years hubby was here with us more than he was away but not all my friends are that lucky. My best friend got marrired about 2 years ago & he's been in Hondurus for 6 months & at the end of next month heading to Iraq for 18 months!

You shouldn't feel the need to clarify comments in your own blog...god knows this new journal space is confusing enough!
