Cookbook Chaos

Many moons ago Paul gave me a blank cookbook. (a gift I asked for) It's been sitting on my bookcase ignored and mostly empty. I love cookbooks and collecting recipes. My plan for this book was to make it a gathering place of all my favorites that we use again and again and again. My thought was that by gathering those family favorites in one spot, the chidren would have easy access to the recipes that they'd most likely want to take with them to their own homes.

My plan for today is to work on the cookbook. We're trying to get the house ready for this move and I have so many loose recipes flying all over the place that I thought this would be a good use of today. Organize the family favorites cookbook!


glitter-graphics.comOf course, I'm now sitting at my computer, the mass of loose recipes and the cookbook binder behind me spread out on the dining room table. What chaos!! This seemed like a really good idea when all this stuff was stuffed in the bookcase (I have one small bookcase dedicated to my cookbooks). Now that the slips are all over the table... WOW! do I ever collect a lot of recipes!

I think I need to call in the calvary (Paul) to help me get this organized.

I know how you feel. I thought it was a good idea to start shredding and now it just won't end, lol. hang in there!

Haha! That IS a great idea, but I can see how it would be a lot of work!

I have a little card file in which I keep recipes; I also write some down in a spiral notebook to try; I have three-ring binders in which I keep stuff I print out from various online sites. It's not a great system, because I write things down and forget about them, but I have most of our favorites in the card file, so that's the first place I look!

Good luck in making order out of the chaos!

I have lose recipes laying all over the place to, lol. I started putting them in a 3-ring binder, but when I'm lazy (a lot) I just lay them on top.
I know it's only getting worse, but I just can't face giving it some organization right now. Maybe never, lol.
I could never have hubby help me, he would just toss everything in the trash!

What a GREAT idea!!! My son could care less right now, but one day when I'm gone... he could give MY recipe book to his WIFE!!!!! LOLOLOLOL!!!! HAHA!!! HOHO!! HEHE!!! ROFL!!!!!!!!!! That would just be EVIL, huh?!?!?!? LOL!!!

It is a wonderful idea. I have cookbooks from my Mom & Aunt, though not blank at start, with all their little notes & suggestions...I cherish them.
I think once you start the organization, it flows, but initially, it is ACKKK. Get started. ~Mary
